ANNOUNCEMENT LETTER

104th Annual Meeting
and Conference

 Downtown Mobile
February 3-6, 2007

The 2007 SAAS meeting and conference will be held at the Mobile Convention Center , the Gulf Coast 's Premier Meeting and Convention Facility located in downtown Mobile, Alabama. Showcasing the unique award-winning design are spacious lobby areas which feature two- and three-story atrium ceilings, nautical lighting themes, and over 45,000 square feet of exterior glass. With outdoor terraces encompassing three sides of the Center you will have the opportunity to peer across the historic Mobile River .

SAAS’s Opening Session is scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, February 4. The opening session will be on Immigration Policy. The Immigration Policy session will include nationally recognized scholars to address timely issues with regards to immigration, proposed policy changes (or recently implemented ones, depending on actions taken by the government in coming months) and their impact on southern agriculture and agribusiness, a very timely topic. This session is sponsored by the SAEA, and all SAAS associations and represented disciplines are invited to attend this session.

The Annual Super Bowl Party/Reception will follow the Opening Session on Sunday evening. Come watch the game on the big screen and cheer on your favorite team!

SAAS registration fee remains at $40 faculty and $5 for graduate students plus fees for your individual sections/associations. There is no SAAS registration fee for undergraduate students. Discipline Associations are developing new and exciting programs and educational sessions. Various sections have made calls for papers and presentations; check your section web site for additional information and association’s registration information.
