For sightseeing in downtown Mobile,
a FREE, convenient, all electric trolley system, Wave
Transit System, MODA, is
available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. to assist you in
visiting the downtown areas during the day. Look for the bright blue and
green trolley cars or check the website for downtown map and trolley route.

Entertainment:
Exciting
News: We will be in Mobile during an
exciting time. Not only will Mardi Gras parades be on the streets Friday and
Saturday, Feb. 2 and 3, but the Exploreum (across the street from the Riverview
Plaza) will be hosting a Pompeii exibit. Click

Friday and
Saturday travelers arriving at parade time, 6:30 till, should be aware that
downtown traffic might be congested and some streets blocked for the parade.
Along with the Pompeii exhibit, will
be a Roman Soldier re-enactment to educate the public of the life and times of
the Roman Soldier and citizens in the early 1st Century A.D. The
"soldiers" will be camping in downtown Mobile and walking around
in the downtown area.
The Grampa Woo is a ship that
provides excursions in the north during the summer months and south during the
winter months. It will be in Mobile during our 2007 SAAS meeting. The ship
offers day trips showing historical locations and beautiful scenery. For contact

The
Gulf
Coast Exploreum Museum of Science is directly across the street from
the Riverview Plaza Hotel. The Exploreum is an
exceptional regional science center for adventurers of all ages. Interactive
science exhibits and big screen (IMAX) films provide everyone an entertaining
outing for the mind. For hours, show times, prices and more

we are in town.
Visitors to Mobile are
often astounded by the quality of golf
courses available. Gold Digest ranked Mobile as one of the top ten
golf value destinations in the United States. Visit the web site and click on

Fort
Conde is within walking distance (about one block) from the Riverside
Plaza Hotel. Enjoy a free tour of Ft. Conde, a replica of the
original 18th century French Fort. Admission is free.
The
USS
Alabama Battleship is located on Mobile Bay, approximately two miles
from downtown Mobile. One ticket entitles you to tour the Battleship,
the Submarine
USS
DRUM and the 23 combat
aircraft
collection. Voyage through time and revisit an era of
adventure and bravery.
Mobile is now home to the Carnival
Cruise Line's Holiday cruise ship. For information regarding booking a
fun-filled cruise, please check the website.
Bellingrath
Gardens is located about 14 miles from downtown Mobile. In
February, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, pansies, camellias, Japanese magnolias,
ornamental kale and cabbage, foxglove, delphinium, violas
and poppies are in bloom. Over 50,000 bulbs planted throughout
the gardens. Open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
January and February. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5.50 for ages 5-11 plus
5.5% tax.

Located in the heart of Mobile, at 5151 Museum Drive, the Mobile
Botanical Gardens offers a rare blend of cultivated areas and nature
trails. Within its 100 acres are native and exotic azaleas, camellias,
hollies, magnolias, roses, ferns and perennials plus a 40-acre longleaf pine
habitat. The Gardens are open year round from dawn to dusk. There
is no admission fee, though donations are appreciated. The office is
open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Guided tours available on

Approximately 40 miles from downtown Mobile is the Tanger
Factory Outlet (also known as "the Foley outlet
mall") with over 120 stores. Check the website for more information.
