The 2012 SAAS Convention will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, February 4-7. The Sheraton Birmingham Hotel will be the site for lodging. Meetings will be held in the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. The complex includes the hotel, the Medical Forum Building, and various other meeting room and entertainment facilities.

The cut-off date for reservations at the group rate is 5:00 pm (CST)
on Friday, January 20, 2012.

NOTE: The group block at The Sheraton Birmingham Hotel has been fulfilled. However, the hotel will continue to take reservations at the group rate as long as rooms are available. The hotel is completely booked for Saturday, Feb. 4. If you have tried to register using the above link and could not get a room, please call the hotel at the numbers listed above and they will work with you.

  Rates:  
  $149/night for Single or Double
  $159/night for Triple and $169/night for Quad
 

  Cancellation policy:

  Cancellations will be accepted up to 72 hours prior to arrival date.
  A $50 fee will be charged for early departure if you do not advise the
  hotel at or before check-in.
  Group rates will be available 3 days prior to and subsequent to meeting dates,
  and includes access to 3rd floor health club, pool access, in-room coffee and 
  tea, and daily newspaper. Also, no resort or service fees will be charged.

  Complimentary Hotel Airport Shuttle: In airport go o to "Buses and Limos  
  Pickup" -  Upper Level Door 3 in Airport. If not there, call Hotel at
  205-324-5000.

  Hotel Parking - Hotel parking $12/night; Hotel valet parking $20

  50 Years After Birmingham: Reflections on the Changes in
  the Conditions of People Especially in Rural Alabama

  A distinguished panel, including State Senator Hank Sanders, all
  of whom have rich experience with the struggles of the Civil Rights
  Movement, will reflect on the history, the progress that has been
  made, and the on-going challenges and work that still needs to be
