AG COMMUNICATIONS

PAPER CALL:
The call for papers for the 2009 Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists' Agricultural Communication Section has been posted. Please visit http://agnews.tamu.edu/saas/ and click on "Call for Papers for 2009 Meeting” <http://agnews.tamu.edu/saas/saasguidelines.pdf>. The deadline for submissions is
OCTOBER 1.

The 2009 conference will be Jan. 31-Feb. 3, 2009 at the Westin Peachtree Hotel in Atlanta. The AgComm Section will have its research/professional development meeting on Sunday and Monday of the conference.

There are two categories for papers: research paper and professional paper.

·         Research papers are traditional scholarly pieces, using qualitative or quantitative methods.

·         Professional papers are how-to pieces that inform/instruct readers on processes or programs related to agricultural communication. These may include planning a conference, designing a communications or information campaign, or developing a media relations training program.

As in years past, the SAAS AgComm Section opens its call for papers to anyone in any region. It is a great opportunity to share your research and professional experiences with others. Also this year, as the AgComm section has done in recent years, we will have professional development sessions during the meeting. We have initial contact with a reporter from CNN and hope to have a second professional development session lined up, as well, in addition to the research and professional papers.

POSTER CALL:
You are invited to submit a proposal for an Agricultural Communications poster session at the 2009 Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists (SAAS) meeting in Atlanta, Georgia January 31 -  February 3. We are seeking posters that highlight innovative ideas or research related to agricultural communications. Please read the full call (http://agnews.tamu.edu/saas/) for posters for details (http://agnews.tamu.edu/saas/2009saasagcom_call-for-posters.pdf).

Poster narrative proposals are due November 10. Proposals should be submitted electronically to Virginia Morgan (morgamv@aces.edu) at Auburn University.

Please share this call with others in your unit to make sure that as many agricultural communicators as possible are notified of this opportunity.

Hope to see everyone in Atlanta next year!
